This Is For You

To choose your words of uncertainty

To pluck them like roses with thorns galore

You hand them to me

Trust me

Fear crawled into your voice like hope slithered into my heart

You asked of my day

And I hadn’t loved you more.

My friend,

You are more than my friend

You are my keeper

You hold on to bits of my soul

As I do to you,

I find that utterly beautiful

We do not kiss

We do not whisper sweet nothings

We show our tears

Our compassion

And fiery lives we so proudly possess no matter how badly it is looked upon

You are of purity

You were created by chance

And grew up by will

My darling,

You are a mosaic of life

Cracked here and there

Shining color to my eyes

My love,

I do in fact love you

But not as how the world would observe

You sturdy my being into this reality

And sometimes I lift you into the darkest nights

To see the stars that mist over us

Like confetti, dampening our souls

Grounding us to who we are.

We are of magic, you and I

To face the world as the children we are

But to grow and breathe and live as we should

To see what we can do

And smile because we can

We are but specs in this terrible and beautiful universe

We are the greats
